I have a stock, with the exception of underdrive pullies, 87 5.0 and the volt meter won't stay even. It's surging. Higher rpm's, higher voltage (about 16), lower rpm's, lower voltage (about 12 at idle). I don't recall seeing the volt meter move the way it is now before changing the alternator a while ago. I got a piece of junk stock replacement from Advance and it didn't solve the problem (car running off of the battery not the alternator). So I got a Motorcraft alternator, and just got a brand new Interstate battery. It's still fluctuating. The only things left that I can try is new battery cables (the ones in there look fine) and I was also thinking about a new voltage regulator. Anyone have suggestions on what else to try? Thanks
