Cant get tranny out!!

OK so I got all the bolts out of the T45 in my '00GT. Mangling the top 2 in the proccess. But now I cant get the tranny off the motor. Ive put a jack under the motor and a jack under the tranny and I cant slip er out!! I can push, shove, rock, and kick it and maybe get a half inch gap on one side. Then wrestle with it more and the other side may get a gap but then the first side now has no gap!! Any recomendations?? Or do I just spend another day under the car hoping I get it all lined up right and she'll slide out?

had the same prob with mine, I had some friends with muscle come over and we jacked up and down wiggled side to side pushed and pulled. After about an hour the tranny finally gave up and came out. Keep at it eventually you'll get it. Good luck.

make sure the plate type thing that goes between the tranny and engine to shield the flywheel is unbolted. There are 2 small bolts at the bottom that hold it on...I forgot to take them off and i couldnt get the tranny off.

Didnt think they were connected to engine??

Not sure if it is connected but it makes it easier.

Use a prybar to get the tranny off.

It's still attached with 2 dowel pins.
With the prybar(use it carefully though as not to hit the clutch etc) it'll easily break loose.

they are not connected to the engine but to the transmission but it wont allow the tranny to slide out if its still on there...it hits the flywheel

Ya that makes sense now that I think about it. I can be scary/dangerous at times, especially since I play with 12 ton presses, welders, grinders, chop saws etc. Ive caught my shirt on fire and burned my beard welding under a car before. Tho still have all me fingers!! And my good looks!!!

I think there's a fundamental problem here. How did a tranny get bolted to your car in the first place... that's nasty man.

Make sure all the top bolts are out, and the starter. I was taking the tranny out of a '94 Ranger and had to work at it cause i missed the very top bolt i couldn't see, and the dowel pins were a pain but it eventually came out.

I had to read this like 5 times til I went

Starter is off. This weekend I'll take off that cover plate on the bottom; hopefully "IT" will slide out.

Also Im confused about "...block plate screws..." I dont see any screws anywhere. Maybe a couple bolts??

yeah i meant bolts. there should be at least 2 on the bottom of the tranny. it hold a metal plate onto the tranny. if you don't have those out, you can forget about taking the tranny off

Yeah i guarantee that is what your problem is cause it happened to me. Thats what i was talking about above.

Well, now might be a good time to talk about how you are going to get the trans back in.......
de-bur any sharp edges from the input shaft,
make sure the pilot bearing is in correctly with a
little bit of grease on it (check it by sliding it on the input shaft prior to the install)
make sure the clutch disc slides on and off the input shaft easy (but don't grease anything there!)
and most importanlty use a good clutch alignment tool, like the input shaft from a broken trans (I never really liked the plastic tools)
if it all seems to mate up, but won't slide that last 3/4 inch, have someone lightly step on the clutch pedal while you push in on the trans (the pilot bearing is not lined up exactly right with the disc).

Cant get tranny out!!
