A couple of weeks ago I paid off our 06 Freestar 10 months early. Only 65K on it and running good so I was looking forward to saving the extra cash, maybe spending a little on the Mustang.

Well the wife called me at work and told me that the van died right in front of the house as she was getting home. It appears the tranny is toast. Apparently, they are prone to failure without warning at realitively low miles. So now it is at the dealership awaiting the final verdict. It aint looking good.

But I did take a look at the 2011 Mustangs while I was there. Maybe this is fate?

I would take it to a actual transmission shop .The dealer will rip you off big time my parents have a 05 ford escape and the tranny went out on it about a month ago .They got it fixed for 1,800 dollars at a transmission shop and it has a one year warranty .The dealer wanted over 2,500 for it

My wifes Pathfinder just hit 105k and that means a timing belts...thats a drag in itself....:(

She's been complaining of a skip/stumble when driving....after driving it I'm thinking something may be going in the tranny....as it shudders under load...My 94 Mustang had a factory recall for that and this is feeling the same way...
All I wanted was another year and then it was going bye-bye anyway...

UPDATE: The torque converter is bad. The splines on the input hub sheared off. My research on the web says this is a very common problem with this tranny.

I was fearing the worst, so this isn't so bad but it still sucks donkey balls.
