Canton oil pan doesn't fit!

I am rebuilding a 302 for my '90 5.0 convertible. I bought a Canton oil pan to clear the trick flow main support but, when I test fitted the motor with the pan, it hits everything it possibly can! It hits the rack, sway bar and the rear support bars to the k-member. This is with new motor mounts. I called Canton and they said they have never heard of any fitment problems with these pans. I can't be the only one that has ever had this problem! Any ideas, fixes, comments? Thanks!

A buddy of mine had a problem with the deep one on his 347. The long tubes touched it at the rear corners and my brother in law had a problem with the wide one hitting the k member. He wound up notching the k member about 1/4" to allow clearance and the buddy swapped out the long tubes. They're full of b.s. to say that there have been no issues. One car was an 88 the other was an 89 and both were hatchback GT's if it matters.

What is the PT# on the pan?

I have used over a dozen of these and have not had fittment issues with any body panels or suspension components, from 86-95 mustangs. They are always very tight to the stock sway bar and steering rack and the T-pan's are very tight to the long tubes depending on what brand they are.

What motor mounts are on the car?

Part number is 15-620S. It's the correct pan. I heard somewhere that convertible motor mounts were different than coupe/HB mounts but that doesn't make any sense. I'm using brand new Energy Suspension motor mounts. I mean this thing really sits hard on the rack and sway bar. Thanks for the responses.

I have the road race pan (canton) on my 351w in an 88 with the maximum motorsports cross member. I did have problems with the powersteering rack interfearing with the bottom of the pan. what i did was grind off as much material from the rack as I felt comfortable with and then took a hammer to the bottom of the oil pan and gently massaged it as much as I could. the sway bar did touch the pan so what I did there was make a spacer (1/8" of stacked washers) and put those between the sway bar mount and the frame where it mounts. the oil pan was a pan in the ass how I did it was put masking tape on the rack and droped the motor in then ground down the witness marks and repeted then put the tape on the pan and beat the witness marks with the hammer untill there were no witness marks.. chris

Mine actually rubs my tubular k-member. You could see the marks from when i had pulled the motor out.

Me too. I was hoping that flat spot was supposed to be there.

I tried to run solid 3/4" drop mounts to make the 351W fit under the stock hood, but there was no chance of clearing the k-member.

From the bottom end the 302 351 should be pretty much the same, except for width?
