Do you guys think I need to bump up the fuel? Iam running 5 and a half psi now. Just when I get on it going about 4500 and up it will start to pop and sound like a rev limiter . IT still pulls hard and all just now when I gets to that point I shift. I pulled the plugs they all look fine got the nice tan on them.

Sounds like you are indeed running out of gas. However I have had that problem with too small of an air cleaner as well...

Yup, check your air cleaner..run without it up the street. Also, what are your valve springs like?

5.5 is a little low to keep fuel in both bowls at that higher rpm band.

Pump it up some and test it.

I have a 14inch air cleaner on it now so it is getting air. I dont know how hold the springs are. I want to run the car at the track on friday to see how she does. The car has been down for 10 months and I want to get her up and going again. Last time out she ran a 9.7 at 73mph in the 1/8 which is ok. This time out I want to run a 9.5 or better.

I would bet its the "DIZZY" hehe. 12sec67 just figured it out, and 2 years ago it had me stumped too.his was at like 6100, and mine was at 5500. No matter what I did, what gear I was in, whether it was under a load or not. BAM 5500 rpm wall

I had a high speed miss (4k - 6K) that turned out to be the spark plugs had too big of a gap for the supplied voltage to jump across. The early model distributors have a resistance wire that limits the voltage to 12 volts. I reduced the gap and cured the problem. I also eliminated the resistance wire (located at the ignition switch on 68's) to get 14.8 volts to my distributor because I am not running the old points and condenser set-up.
