My car stops accellerating at 4300 rpms. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I've even taken it into ford and it's throwing no codes and they say it's running fine. The guy told me it's the injector cut out to protect the engine. Funny thing is it used to rev all the way to 6000 rpms, then after the alternator went out and I changed it, it started doing this. I think it's just coincidence but who knows. I've replaced/upgraded a host of things chasing this down and now think it must be in the computer. any insight?

TFI module? Not sure since you didn't say what you replaced so far.

Agreed with Joe - more info please.

And what happens after it cuts out. Does it run alright once you let the RPM's come down?

Do you run plat plugs? They're known for causing a 4K RPM cut-out. A bad ignition coil can also cause this, as can a failing TFI that Joe mentioned (the TFI will often degrade in short order thereafter).

Good luck.

I've replaced the ignition coil, cap & rotor, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, and also checked the TPS, MAF, Timing. The car acts like it is hitting a rev limiter. If while accellerating I hit 4300 rpms it basically falls on it's face if I shift and drop the rpms it will continue as it should. The car acts normal it just won't rev past 4300 rpms. The plugs are standard motorcraft. What is the TFI?

TFI = Thick Film Ignition. It's the ignition module located on the passenger side fender. In the ground pathway to the coil (the coil's fire is modulated by ground), the TFI supplies the coil with said ground.

Good luck.

Not to hijack here but does the TFI have to be bolted to the fender. I have mine just tucked up in the fender from when I hid all the wires. Will this cause for problems?

Sounds more like a bad fpr or fuel pump to me. Check your fuel system out.

Stop guessing. He said it was the TFI.
