Car Dosent Start Help!

Like I said before, what happens if you have the car in neutral, ebrake on, and jump the two big lugs on the solenoid. If it acts the same, that suggests that the solenoid is not what is holding you back.

Batteries can be had for around 40 bucks - 10 bucks goes a ways towards a new battery.

Good luck.

Thanks, im definatly going to need a new battery but im pretty sure i fixed it, kinda, i found the starter, im very retarded i was looking in the compltley wrong spot, but i hit it a bunch of times with the hammer, i went to start it and the beeping was very slow and rpms went to 500, and didnt click, so im gonna use my moms car to jump it now that she just got home, you guys think the starter was just stuck? or should i replace it, im not sure if it was even the starter, it was a cylinder thing next to the exhaust pipe but it wasent connect to anything  oh well i beat the living crap out of it, so now im gonna eat and then try to jump it, thanks guys, im going to buy a new battery for sure, should i get a starter?

ok well no luck, i just finised eating, i went out hooked up the cables and tried to start it but it clicks again and nothing, i got my brother to try to start it while i wacked the starter but still didnt start, i put the voltmeter on the battery while we were trying to jump it and it was at 12.7, I dont know what to do anymore, im still not 100% thats the starter cause its just a little cylinder thing with a bolt on each side, i looked at one on 50resto and it looks NOTHING like it besides the fact its a cylinder, i dont know though, its right next to the xhaust pipe, behind the front passenger tire along the side of the car, just about a foot like the other guy said, grrrrr, should i just go get a solenoid for 10 bucks? I have a car to use now

yea well now i feel even more retarded that i found out what i was hitting wasent even the starter, i still have no idea where it is, this sucks, any advice anyone?

NVM guys, i beat the starter i finally found it, and she starts up, charged the battery, ill probably buy a new one soon, should i get a new starter? It starts up fine now, you think it was jsut stuck? thanks.

hmm im going to go check it again, cause my car will start now no problem, it probably hesitates once then starts up, sounds alright for a battery less then 25% charged  I think yesterday while i was trying to start the car it might have drained the battery, because when it finally worked the battery wouldnt start the car for anything, so i jumped it and it started, im gonna go check the volts right now. But from what it looks like the starter was stuck cause hitting it worked, should i get a new starter to avoid being stuck somewhere, or do you think it will be fine now? thanks for the help

alright dudes, i just checked, its at 12.04 volts, time for a new battery you guys think? I had it charging for literally more then a half hour last night cause i left it outside and forgot about it. I only have 50 bucks right now that i could spend, and i will be flat out broke after that, what do you guys say?

grab your battery and take it to the parts store for a free load test. That way you will feel good about spending your money on the battery (and not get ticked at us thinking we mislead you - there is nothing like being there in person to see for one's self).

I get batteries at Wally mart - a good bit cheaper than parts stores. Good luck.

Oh yeah, I would hold off on the starter. Any real deductions made about the starter are skewed if the battery is not able to turn the motor over (ditto for the solenoid).

can i get a decent battery at discount auto for 50 bucks, maybe 45? I know nothing about them, are they all the same? Does it matter THAT much? I have a 50 dollar bill.

Id love to get one of those but im a poor highschool student lol. I had plans for gears and just started a little gears fund but that went to gas and now the rest is going to a battery. Guess they will have to wait alittle longer  Ill go to walmart and pick up any battery i see for about 45. Thanks guys
