My car is smoking... a white/grey when its cold... I would not be concerned but it still does it after it is full warm (30 miles later) and I notice that the cars around me are not doing it... while some are but not all.... is this normal or do I have a need to be concerned??
Smoke or steam? Burning coolant is usually easy to determine. Have you lost any coolant? What is the temp there? Also this is normal if you have not lost any coolant and it is cold outside. This is most likely just condensation in the exhaust. The cats convert HC and CO into H20 and Co2. Even if you have an offroad pipe it will still have condensation and then it will steam out through the exhaust pipes. Check you coolant overflow.
no coolant loss... no oil loss... its sub 45*... today it was about 35*... I am all stock minus whats in my sig. I guess I wont worry about it... and will put the UD's on now that I wont have to go to the dealership for warranty work. Thanks
I read somewhere (don't remember where) that the TB helped quite a bit if you had cams or if you were doing forced induction. Other than that I don't think it was too much of a gain.
does the smoke come out of the tail pipes? If you answer yes to this question - it will most likely be condinsation which is a result of a hot gas (exhaust gases) mixing with a cold enviornment (cold exhaust plumbing.) The cooling creates water vapor which is what you see coming out of the tail pipes.
Yes the smoke is out the pipes... I am going with the water vapor as it only happens when it is cold.... and I dont smell anything funny... like oil or coolant and neither one is depleting itself. Thanks for the info/help guys... you just saved me alot of worrying.
