Car starts, idles fine, dies when put in gear.

When the car is warmed up, and i put it in reverse it dies. After the 3rd try, i can manage to rev it a little in reverse and go for a ride and everything is fine. It seems that it only happens when the engine has cooled down. Any thoughts? I have a Summit 600 carb on my 289.

Sounds to me like you need to be sure your timing and carb settings are correct. That is normally fixed by normal tune up settings being restored.

You got a dashpot?
Check your idle rpm. Too low and that might do it.
Carb/choke adjustment.
Or timing like it was said earlier.
