when i start my car the starter steal engages than i shut it of and it steal engages. i recently was told it was my solenoid i replaced my solenoid and my starter and the problem steal occurs . i also checked the wires for the solenoid and they where put back on properly. i cant figure out wat the problem is.

Check the wire going to the top post of the solenoid with a test light with the car off. I had a similar problem like this and the wire had cracked down towards the harness and was touching a fused link so it was always on.

Welcome to the boards.

Also tell us the year of stang and if it's the factory starter. The starters and circuits changed over the years.

Good luck.

Sounds like you have a bad ignition switch to me. They are known to be junk. Here's a test you can try. Pull the little red wire with the black elbow boot off the starter relay, put a tester on it, sit it where you can see it while you turn the key. The test light should go on and off with tthe key... if it stays on when you turn the key off, replace the ignition switch and then smack yourself in the head for replacing a perfectly good starter. LOL.
