OK last night I get back to the car and it cranks, so it has power, I actually killed the battery trying to get it started, so then I got a boost to get the battery up again. I recently had the fuel filter replaced because the car was studdering under load around 3k rpms. It isn't doing that any more but it just won't start now. So I'm thinking fuel pump?? any other ideas out there??

One other possibiltity is if you replaced the fuel filter, they may have tripped the cut-off switch. It is a safety feature in case you get in an accident there is a trip switch in your trunk. Mine is a 95 and it is located on the drivers side behind the panel. Other possibility is replacement filter is clogged. You may want to check to see if you have any pressure by the engine. There is a port you can hook a gauge up to. I believe that chiltons or hanes manual will tell you how to check.

Hope this helps
Good Luck

Yeah I checked the fuel cutoff switch that day and it was pushed in so I don't know if that means its on or off but I had thought of resetting it. I went back to my car the next morning and it started right up?? So now I'm confused as to what it is. It is an intermittent problem that has happened twice now, so I'm thinking its the electrical to the fuel pump possibly cause the fuel pump is working now, but maybe it is starting to go??

Well I got the codes read and the theft system was activated, which I noticed the theft system blinking when I was trying to start it, So they said try a new key, so now I'm using my other key and so far it hasn't left me stranded, so I'm crossing my fingers that it was the chipped key that was the problem and not the electrical in the car.

the other code that came up was a cam position sensor, So buddy said it needed to be replaced? for those that have dealt with this, is it possible that it is out of synch, and just needs to be realigned or should I replace the sensor completely?? and if thats the case how do you line up top deap centre without removing the manifolds, etc so you can see that your lined up to position the sensor properly??

Hey GreenBioch,

How many miles in U.S. miles is 170,000 Kilometers? How many miles do you currently have on your 98 Mustang? And how is the condition of the body on your car? I remember one time you mentioned that your rocker panel moulding was all scraped up and loose. Did you fix it yet?

I keep it in good shape. I wax and wash often enough(the car, not myself). the rocker moulding is still busted from the curb I went over, its like 280 bucks to fix but I have spent money on other stuff(performance) and just left it alone for the most part. Although I do plan on fixing it. I have key marks on one side from a vengeful ex, I plan on going through insurance for a 250 buck deductable for that, but again lazyiness and spending on other things comes into play. and I have one minor little dent from a walmart incident with a white pickup truck. But if you look at the pics in "my garage" those are recent and you can see its pretty well maintained, but I gotta fix that stuff up sometime. although the rocker isn't loose its just got a big crack in it, so its hard to tell untill you really look, I think the dark green hides it well.

The other thing I have noticed recently, since I drive my car in winter as well, the lip on the wheel wells the paint is starting to peel up under there, So I'm worried rust will start to form, So I have to get rid of her before then , make it someone elses problem. Yeah I'm a bastard.

170000kms is equal to just over 100000miles

basically 160kms=100miles, I now have 174000kms.
