well i finally g0t the swap d0ne and s0mething aint right. its making a high pitched bearing squeal and it s0unds like its the cam eccentric but i cant tell if its that 0r the water pump just happened t0 g0 bad t0day. als0 im n0t running any heater c0re lines and ive just g0t the line 0n the water pump capped and its plugged 0n the intake. i d0nt kn0w if thats causing the pump t0 cavitate 0r what. i d0nt even want t0 drive the car because 0f the n0ise. its wierd th0ugh because it d0esnt d0 it all the time 0nly when y0u rap 0n it a little it will squeal and than just kind 0f fade away and st0p until y0u rap 0n it again. the car was running pretty damn g00d and than we f0und a giant vacuum p0rt 0n the intake behind the carb that we s0meh0w 0verl00ked.

ps. its a tw0 piece eccentric and at first i th0ught it was the 0uter shell making the n0ise but im n0t s0 sure n0w. please help i need my car t0 run asap

you might have another vacuum leak, use propane and hold a hose with propane coming from it around the carb while its idling, DO NOT LIGHT THE FUMES!!! when your engine stumbles or dies you found the vacuum leak..im tired so i made it simple, oh yeah do yourself and your mustang a favor and dont catch it on fire if you try this!! lol

its definetly n0t a vacuum leak. its a metal t0 metal s0und like the water pump is starving f0r water 0r the cam eccentric is making s0me crazy ass n0ise.

edit: well its definetly n0t the water pump. its g0t t0 be the eccentric. we t00k the belt 0ff and cranked it up and it did the same thing. stupid cam eccentric, if that thing bl0ws up im g0nna kill s0me0ne

take the fuel pump off and crank it up, if it still does it, then the eccentric is fine. are you sure the timing pointer isn't scraping the balancer, mine does that too, when i crank it(we all know it won't ever run again) but i think it's the timing pointer because it looks like it is scraping it.

it w0uld d0 it all the time if it was the timing p0inter. im sure its the eccentric. i think im just g0nna take 0ff my BRAND NEW FUEL PUMP and g0 buy an0ther BRAND NEW ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP and get a regulat0r.:bang: :bang:

I would recommend going to the one piece fuel pump eccentric. You have to match the fuel pump eccentric, the cam dowel, the cam gear and attaching bolt.

Ford used to sell the one pc unit with all of their SVO timing chain kits, but you can buy it separately.

You also need to make sure the cam and thrust plate clearance is correct.

Also make sure you used the two special bolts with the low rise bolt heads to hold the cam plate in place. It you use regular ones, the heads hit the back of the cam gear.

If you keep the two pc eccentric, at least take the timing cover off and make sure it is getting oiled!

Actually need to make sure either kind is getting oiled.

The cam thrust plate and some holes around that area in the block direct oil to the timing chain, gears, and front of the cam, so make sure they are open.

Last, make sure the cam thrust plate is installed correctly.

I have tried to do most of this wrong at one point or another.

i never really th0ught ab0ut it being the pump. it might be....but this weekend 0r this week s0metime im g0nna pull the pump and see what it l00ks like. 0ne 0f my teachers said it either s0unds like the eccentric is hitting the timing c0ver 0r the eccentric isnt spinning pr0perly.
