Carb to efi

As for the inertia switch, I noticed that wire was not long enough to reach the back, so you would lengthen it to reach your switch, or find the wires up front and tie into them.

The car I converted did not have the switch, so we got one and installed it in the kick panel due to the short leads.
I would just find the original leads towards the front of the car, and tie into them there, if it was me, and the car already had a rear mounted switch.

Back to the OP's first question - what about an aftermarket self learning system? I think I have seen kits from Accel and Holley. Do these work and are they worth the money? They sound simple and good, but do they work??

Couple things,
First off, make use of the as much of the stock 89 harness and parts you can.
Stock stuff works the best and easiest.
No point in really deleting sensors, there isn't many, keep it simple, run them all.

You can NOT run 24's with a stock meter, as someone suggested.

You are considering a stock intake and a turbo? If you don't have money for a good intake, you don't have money for a turbo.

^^^this i started with a francis kit but ended up not doing it because it was to many connections needing to be made. If i had a race car or an old car i would do the francis kit but not for someone with a decent harness

alright so im fixing to carb swap my 88 foxbody i already got the stuff i need so i believe. (holley 650 4brl, intake, gt40p heads, hei vaccuum advance distrib.) i just ordered a 296/302 dur. .520lift cam and .525 max lift springs. planning on reusing stock roller lifters, rockers and pushrods. will i run into any clearance issues? planning on using my electric fuel pump just put a regulator on it. theoretically it shouldnt need anything else so i think i could be completely wrong. i need someones help who has done this before. thank you

You should have made a new thread instead of asking here, plus there are tons of old threads you could have found with people asking the same questions you are. Search, grasshopper.

1.) What I understand is that the 19s will handle up to 300hp, then you pretty much need 24s.
2.) I also understand that the stock MAF setup will run 24s without issue,

1.) They'll only do that at 100% duty cycle and ~63psi, making them roughly equivalent to a 24lb injector. At the stock pressure and a sane DC, they'll support maybe 250hp. 24s will be less demanding on the pump.
2.) No it won't. The stock MAF should be paired to stock injectors.

Dont get the holley because no one on here would be able to help because o one has done it i know because i was gonna go with a motec system but didnt

That's a weak reason for picking one standalone over another. Stangnet isn't the only place to get help; both Holley and Motec have forums and tech support lines.

Woah now i know lol thats just what everyone bashed me for i wanted to go holley myself but everyome said that if something went wrong no one on here would be able to help

You should start a new thread, or do a search.
Also, your fuel pump idea is garbage. Sorry. Unless you're making it into a drag car, I would NOT do that. The return line in an EFI Mustang routes the fuel back over the pump to cool it off during extended use. As a DD you'll burn up a pump real quick, or I would imagine so. If this is going to be a dedicated drag car, go for it! My dad did the same thing in his drag car. And, I doubt you'll be able to reuse your pushrods. You should ALWAYS measure pushrod length. Especially when you're swapping heads AND a cam.

93-95 Cobras ran 24s with the same MAF as the GT counterparts.

With a different ECU...

I should have been more clear. '93 Cobras did not use a regular HO MAF and didn't use a regular ECU. SN95 Cobras used a different ECU for 24lb injectors.

1.) So then you can run any injector with a stock MAF if you just tune the ECM?

2.) Why would anyone ever bother to buy (or manufacture) calibrated MAFs if that is the case?

1.) Correct. That's why Ford Racing provides injector data sheets with opening time, breakpoint, and voltage correction.

2.) 20-25 years ago, chips/J3 tuners were not nearly as accessible to the home user as they are now. Nowadays, I don't really know why "calibrated" MAFs are still popular. Perhaps the plug 'n' play nature of them is appealing despite it all amounting to a bodge job as tuning goes.

Okay, that makes sense.
I wasn't trying to be obtuse, just to understand.

I still stand by our 89 5.0 running 24s with an SN95 style factory MAF.
It does work great, but it just might be dumb luck falling upon the exact right circumstances.
