Hello everyone,

I have a 1980 mustang, 2.3L non-turbo. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to properly tune a carburetor or point me in the direction of where I could find out.

Thanks

The best advice I can give you is order Haynes Weber Carburetor manual and use the instructions pertaining to the 32/36 DFV or 32/36 DFAV. The other thing you could do is pop on EBay and buy some Ford shop manuals for your car. They would detail the carburetor well.

You sure you have a carburetor on your engine? If so, take a picture of it and I will tell you how.

2.3 n/a is carbed on Mustangs up to '86 if i'm right.
1980 should be a Holley 5200 which is a licensed copy of Weber 32/36 DFEV ... so unless he upgraded to EFI ...

OK
If he takes a picture of it, (from the automatic choke down) I will tell him how to set the Carb.

Hey guys,

Thanks to all who responded,

I forgot to mention that this is a 1980 mustang 2.3L non-turbo, I saw there was some confusion on the year of the car. To answer the question of the carburetor, I am not sure if it is a Holley 5200 but probably after I post some pictures, it will be easy to tell. Unfortunately, the car was just picked up for painting. I will post the pictures when the car gets back. I will post a message when it gets back along with the pictures. Again, thanks again for responding.

This the one of my Capri (choke removed) ... should be the same on a Mustang.

Mine has a vacumm solenoid due to automatic transmission ... this can be different from car to car so idle speed adjustment can vary.

Hey TuxStang,

That is what my carburetor looks like, the only difference is I have the choke still on it. My mustang is also an automatic transmission. Thanks for posting the picture.
