just got a 02 gt and a/c compressor was not cycling on. bypass low pressure switch and nothing. gauges read a/c coolant is full. all fuses are good. took off ccrm under fenderwell on passenger side, opended it up and one of the pins on the a/c relay was burnt. took a a/c relay off the ccrm from a 98 ford escort which read the same numbers on them as the mustang. i solder the used a/c relay from the escort to the mustangs ccrm. put it back on and a/c clutch still did not engaged. my first time doing this so not sure if i did a good job on the contact on the solder. Now when i first started the car after the solder and found out the a/c compressor still dont kick in, I come to find out the car wont turn off now when i completely turn the key off and all the way out. Could i have affected another relay by tryin to mess with the ac relay on the ccrm. I just need the car to turn off with the key for now and ill be back to square one. im a newb to this so any input will help thks...

Sounds like you already know the answer.

If one pin was burnt, likely others were affected as well. Or perhaps, there is a solder bridge from the repair.

Not sure that I can offer any addtional advice beyond what you already know.

Get a new CCRM.

considering what ive done will it cause the car not to turn off anymore with the key? All the light on the dash turn off with the key but the car just keeps runing. I have to stall it out in first gear for the car to turn off.

Question? Did it turn off before the home repair was done? Was any other work done at the same time?

The primary purpose of the CCRM is to act as the MAIN power relay. So why is it so hard to believe that a solder bridge is keeping a relay engergized.

Further consider the circumstance. You actually found burnt pins and foil traces. How much more do you need?

Sooo unless you are prepared to perform a full funcationality of the old part, I'm not sure you are going to get a definative answer from someone in Internet land.

Try this. Go to:

Home Page | O'Reilly Auto Parts

Enter the car's information. Search for CCRM. It should bring up several products. For the cheapest go to "Cardone - Relay Control Module Part Number: 73-70020".

Click on the compatibilty tab. There is a list of all the other MY's the part will fit.

My CCRM went out this past week as well. I got the A1Cardone brand CCRM from O'Reilly (the one wmburns pointed out) and got it put in last night. It is working fine so far. And it has a 1 year warranty.

I did some shade tree **** to my car, was having the same problem, so I bypassed the ccrm a/c wise and ran the wire coming of the pressure switch right to the a/c compressor. Not 100% but from looking at the schematic it appeared the only thing the CCRM did for the a/c was shut it off at WOT, been 2 years and no issues yet.

So don't you think this confirms a solder bridge between the AC circuit and the ignition circuit? Otherwise, pulling the AC fuse wouldn't by-pass the problem.
