Someone with more energy can check into it, but many states have a law that specifies the minimum spacing between headlamps, fog lamps, driving lamps, etc.

It is possibly that its also a federal regulation now too.

So having the foglamps in the center, like the 1967 Shelby Mustangs had will be illegal in many states. If you've seen photos of the old Shelby's you may note that some of them had the foglamps out at the sides of the grille. These cars were for states that prohibited the center lamps. I don't remember all the states but I know RI & MD are 2 such states.

and we all know that nobody makes or sells (and none of us use on the streets) parts labeled "for off road use only" right...

The 1967 Shelby center fog lights in the grill are nicer looking. There is nothing dangerous about having fog lights placed together in the center grill like the 67 Shelby Mustang had. WHO makes these stupid laws banning center grill fog lights? Who else, but the individuals who want to take away our rights. You know who I am talking about. I hope that aftermarket companies start making a center fog light grill for both the 2005+ Mustang and for the coming 2006 Cobra. I will buy one and make the conversion on my Mustang. This will really get all the socialists mad.

Don't you think Ford thought of this when developing the '05 Mustang? I think what you see will be sold as is in the States. But then again....we ARE talking about Ford.
