My brother has had both Centerforce DF and spec stage 3 on his 93 and he convinced me the spec stage 3 is the way to go. Grip is excellent and the clutch is not as heavy in the pedal and lasted him longer than the DF. I have the stage 3 Spec with Aluminum flywheel and it is awsome

I have a spec II no problems
It grabs great
Just make sure you dont use their TOB
Its made out of plastic
Just go buy a OEM one from ford

If I’m not mistaken Fords TOB is also plastic, so that’s not going to be a big help. Maximum Motorsports has an all metal one that would be the way to go.

As far as which clutch is better I cant comment on the CF but I’ve had good luck with my Spec ,it grabs like hell and has lasted over 40K. My TOB on the other hand has not been so durable, so the next time I change it out I’m going with a metal one…

I am running the Centerforce DF aswell and I love it. Grip is excellent and no rattles etc.

I did some research when I upgraded my clutch and alot of Spec owners complained about a rattle. Could this have been the TOB?

I also read mixed things about the king cobra. If money is an issue then go with the KC, you can get it for 130 bucks.

Well the TOB I bought from ford was all metal and hasent given me any problems

Yeah its the SPEC TOB that makes the noise, I put a metal one in and it doesent make any rattle or noise.

I had a SPEC 3 with minimal chatter, but the TOB was pretty weak.

Do a search on spec clutches here and on other boards.You will see their stuff is 50/50 at best.

I ran and liked my mcleod dual friction setup.It held up to everything i thru at it.

running a spec stage 3 and they are using better TOB's now. No problems with mine and it grabs like crazy.

Centerforce Dual friction

Never owned a SPEC but I will tell you an 11" Centerforce Dual Friction for $279 is hard to beat (Tremec 3650). Had one in my 89GT and waiting to get one right now for my 2001 Bullitt. Centerforce has DECADES of great reputation. Badass clamping force. I'm not buying anything else ever when it comes to clutch kits for my cars. When SPEC gets a reputation like Centerforce has...then I might try one someday...

Agreed......

Spec does not even compare to Centerforce. SPEC quality is 50/50. My first aftermarket clutch was a SPEC stage 1. It chattered, and the TOB was crappy, it squeeked like a mouse on steroids.

I then switched out my spec clutch for the Centerforce DF clutch and TOB.
CENTERFORCE does not Chatter, and the TOB does not SQUEEK. And it grabs really good.

If you buy SPEC...its a win or lose situation. SOme have good experiences, and some dont.... I was a Dont...

When it is clutch time for me, i'll be getting a Centerforce D/F myself. How much horsepower can the Centerforce handle? (my GT wont push its limits, but i would just like to know). Also aren't the SPEC clutches geared towards certain HP motors? What the 3 different stages for?
