Change to throttle by wire

I hate the electronic throttle control on my stang....i was wondering, has anyone changed it to throttle by wire or know how to do it?

What do you hate about it? You would probably need a new throttlebody to do that and a new gas pedal assembly. If you want to get rid if the lag get a tune. Also if it has slop in it do the calibration for it that's in the manual.

+1 The throttle by wire system is great it frees up so much room under hood, just look at all the different style blowers available, side intake, front intake etc...

Run a 93 race tune that has an insanely incredible throttle response and you will have to relearn driving the car!

''Throttle by wire'' is ''electronic throttle control'' not to be confused with ''cable controlled throttle''. Like the other guys stated, it can be vastly improved by a tune.

yup + 1 for getting a tune. i Hated the feel of my car when i got it, i was used to the cable from my 95 GT. I got a diablosport predator, and instantly it felt great.

plus you would also need to figure out a way to fab up a idle air control motor, since the fly-by-wire uses the throttle body for that.

A cable throttle wont work anyways, not with the stock computer and adaptive learning function. It would be a waste of time and money to try and make it work if u could get it work.

Well i guess it sounds like i need a tune.........it will take away all the lag in the thottle?

Throttle Response

I have an '06 GT that has a throttle lag. Sometimes it works fine other times it has a bad lag. I have to recalibrated it almost daily. I got a superchips tuner and have tried several of their tunes but it has only magnified the problem. I added a CAI but that didn't help either. Superchips says they have never seen this problem before. I'm wondering if I just have a bad accelerator pedal. I saw a website but I don't recall which one, where someone took apart their accelerator pedal and bent the contacts which they said fixed their lag problem. I don't think I'm that desperate yet but at this point I'm willing to try anything.

Get an e-mail tune from Brenspeed, VMP Tuning, Tillman's Speed, or Bamachips. That should help you, kens1129.

Kens1129 it sounds to me like you need to clean your throttle body and maf...maybe. A tune will always make the throttle feel great if set up by a pro or even a boxed tune that comes with the tuner.

Thanks Wraith and Anthony. I'll have to check out your suggestions. It's possible the TB could be dirty. I've only had the Stang for 6 months and it has 30k on it. Wraith do you know if any of those companies support the Superchips tuner?

Just cleaned my TB. Runs like a new car. I was surprised it worked because I didn't have any idle problems and I couldn't see any dirt in the TB until I sprayed it. Thanks again Anthony.

I have a tuner from Brenspeed. I run 93 octane in summer, 87 octane in winter. Zero lag.
