Voicing an opinion on the subject is one thing. A little constructive criticism is always appreciated and welcomed. Feedback is an important part of what makes this site great.

The "You’d better do things the way I want them done, or I’m taking my ball and running home!!!" attitude some of you have adopted is entirely something else.

...especially from those who haven't even given it a chance to work.

The attitude of the current crop of mods is another reason that the local classifieds were one of the only reasons I visit here anymore. My criticism was constructive. Don't fix what ain't broke. If I want national classifieds, I'll look on eBay. Even there, I can sort by "items closest to me". I don't need someone from 1500 miles away telling me that what has been done is better than what I know is best.

Tyler hit the nail right square on the head on several points, but I suppose that his isn't constructive criticism either.

I'm gonna go wash my car. That is constructive, isn't it?

The classifieds were broken, that's why they've been fixed. The regional forum itself isn't going away, only its classified section. So is every other regional classified section though, and I haven't heard a peep out of any of them in opposition to this. It's new and needs to be perfected, we get that, but we can't appease a small handfull of members simply because that aforementioned handfull feels somehow inconvenienced by the change. It is what it is. Neither you, me, Brian, my grandma, or my cousin's cousin's friend so and so are going to change that. Mike Raburn, the owner of StangNet felt the classifieds were broken, and I agree with him that they were. Are they still? In the eyes of a few, yes. It's unfortunate that we can't please everyone.

Let it go already....the new system is better...Period!!! Despite your personal belief on the subject, the previous system was in fact flawed. You guys in the NW may have been fine with it because of the close little network you've established, but the rest of the board suffered. Now, everyone has the same opportunity to brows the classifieds, without leaving the confines of the Forum.

It’s cleaner, easier to search and easier to control. If we're able to implement the parameters Matt has suggested above, then all this bitching will be for nothing. Searching for a local items will be as easy as plugging you your zip/postal code and searching for items nearest you. If you’re not willing to ship…then state so in your ad. Are they’re going to be any bugs to work out upon start up….quite possibly, but ultimately this will be of greater benefit to everyone.

Don't be so afraid of a little change. I swear, based on some of your responses, I’d think a lot of you guys just choose to complain for the sake of doing so!?!

Are you even a mod on this forum? Last time I looked it was "Stangnet" not "Cougarnet". The plain and simple fact is that alot of us don't like to pay or deal with shipping parts. It was a nice feature to be able to jump on here, say hi to a few friends, and take a look through what people in our neck of the woods were selling. I hope your new forum works, but it will be left to the end user to put in their info on location, and everyone knows how that goes.. I guess we are all upset because someone is making changes to something that did not need to be fixed, and it will be easier for them, not the end user. I hope you change your attitude towards your customers...

That is all I have to say on the subject, you all know where to find me. Later

First….I’m a mod on all forms…deal with it! I was wrenching on Mustangs while you were still riding your bike to school. What I drive now really has no bearing on this or any other conversation, so loose the superiority complex.

Second, take it back a couple of notches on the attitude. I'm sure you think your "sass" is clever, but your tone isn’t appreciated, nor is it warranted. And it won’t’ be tolerated! I and the other mods here are doing our best to explain to you the implimented changes that are taking place. If you don’t like them and haven’t anything constructive to ad, feel free to refrain from posting at all. The bickering serves no purpose. Your opinions are welcome, but in the end…this isn’t a democracy. This is a privately owned site and Mr. Raburn has the final say and will change and run it the way he sees fit. All that is being done here is being done so to both further the site and its members.

Third…as stated, there are ideas being thrown about by staff right now with regards to the ability to search for items based on location. I’ve stated this twice now, but it seems the point is being lost, so I’ll say it again. Localized search engines will mean that you’ll have the ability to search and post local ads to your heart’s content. If you don’t want to list, or ship things nationally, state as much in your ad. I really don’t know how much more simple I can make it?

Again, despite your personal feelings on the subject…the forums were flawed. The Regionals were as open to spam as they’d ever been and staying on top of it proved taxing. Moderating and managing two sets of classifieds on top of that required double the effort. You still had no guarantee as to what you’re getting, or who you were getting it from….just like you would have no guarantee with any private transaction. Most importantly, the very fact that only about 15% of the sites Regional Classifieds forums were being utilized on a regular basis confirms as much. You can argue with me all you’d like, but the numbers don’t like….the idea was stale!

As far as the user filling out the appropriate fields and entering their location…that can all be hammered out in the details as the section evolves. We’ll more than likely make filling out said location fields mandatory profile information for those wishing to used the classifieds…but again, this like any other venture is going to be a bit of a learning curve. Patience is a virtue here people. I can’t stress this enough.

If you’re so set in your ways that you’re unwilling to accept this, then I really don’t know what to tell you. The old system is gone, never to return. This site like any other is continuously evolving. If you’re unable to evolve with, then you’re time here will probably be limited. In which case…..c’est la vie. We’ll miss you.

You seem to enjoy insulting people, from what I've seen of your moderation tecnique over the last several months. Well, I've been at this hobby since 1978 and have been a member of SN for over two years longer than you. What's the point? The last time I checked the TOS, it wasn't against the rules to express an opinion different from the mods, however it is against the TOS to be abusive.

Hmm, funny how the members don't like the change but most moderators are defending it. This site is bull**** enough already, now it has just become inconvenient AND bull****. You know Cougar guy, it really doesn't matter WHAT you have to say because when a change you strongly support = loss of members/traffic then you are failing at what you're doing.... period. Cougar guy, is there someone above you I can get in touch with on this matter?

The reason you guys haven't heard anything from members in other regions is because NW was the most active by far!

You guys haven't even given it a shot, or made a single suggestion on how to make it work better. The NW Classified forum is going away, so continuing that argument is pointless. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to improve it that do not include keeping it? Otherwise, I'm going to go ahead and lock this down because it's going nowhere.

That is correct the title is Moderator, and he is moderating. You're being unreasonable about the changes and they're changes he isn't even responsible for making.

Let me ask you a question though. Is it acceptable for your buddy Stangler to hurl insults, but not when Brian does it in kind? Turnabout is fair play. Don't like Brian's attitude, don't get on his bad side.

Then how should we make them better?

If the site is such bull****, you're welcome to leave it at any time. Continue to test the profanity filter and the infractions you'll receive for it will do it for you.

The person above Gearbanger 101, the StangNet Super Moderator would actually be three people, and they're the three administrators who created the new classified forums. You can contact StangNet Support here, if you feel the need to go over his head.

Now wait a second, I was just asking a question as to validate your "Superiority", don't get all kung foo on me. Second, I am now and have been since 2001, a major part of the NW forum. Why do you feel like you need to slander me like that? Did I question your abilty to wrench? Nope. Did I suggest I was more a Mustang fan than you? Nope. I was just letting my opinion be heard, something that has been lost in this forum. I have helped many fellow Mustangers with there needs, and I believe 99% would say I'm an upstanding guy (the other 1% don't know me) I want you to say your sorry, or I might just have to report you....

So in about the same amount of time (let's say 7-8 years) I brought in 7 people as a regular stangnet viewer, and Gearbanger brought in 1,.... as a Mod, he only brought in 1?

We don't delete accounts by policy. If all you had to contribute was parts to pad your wallet, it'll be no loss to the community. We have sponsors we can buy parts from. They may not be as cheap as used parts, but at least it supports the site.

Referrals mean nothing, except that the person actually entered your username when they signed up. I have zero referrals, but I know of a couple people that have signed up here because I recommended the site to them. Why not make the argument about how he has 6631 more posts than you do, and that 6631 more issues may have been resolved, by his knowledgable assistance?

I think Brian was right. You guys just want to complain, to hear yourselves complain. The site is evolving because as a national site, we need a national classified system that works. It does now and whether you like it or not, it is the classified system of the future on StangNet.

This one's done, it's obviously going to go nowhere. You can't reason with the unreasonable.
