]I have a '96 GT w/ a old school 302 The alternator has 1 large red wire running to what seems to be the hot on a fuse box in the engine compartment, the other wire is grounded to the motor and there is also a stud on the right side of the alternator that has nothing on it. I have a red top Optima on it and I can't keep a charge, is it wired right? Thanks

What style of alternator is it? If the regulator has any letters (like I, A, S) on it, let us know.

Your wiring doesnt sound like an OEM alternator set up but there are too many variables.

Good luck.

The alternator has these numbers on it 15V 60A D87F 10300B. The car has a MSD Digital 6 programable ignition on it w/ the magnetically triggered dizzy and 8.8 MSD wires and Matching MSD coil. I have wired this particular ignition twice now on two different vehicles with no problems, the hot for the ingnition is wired to a switched hot so I know it's not draining the battery. I am tyrying to upload photos of everything but it's telling me my file sizes are to large.
