charging problems

That white wire is your stator wire and it needs to be hooked up to tell the alternator to turn "on". Peel back the wire loom for your power wires and see if there is a yellow wire down in there that's not hooked to anything. Splice that white/black wire into the yellow wire if you find one. If you don't find one then look for a gray plug on the alternator that has no wire coming from it. You can put that white wire into that connector. The pic you provided is very poor and you didn't say what type of alternator you're using or what year your car is.

If all else fails, try feeding power directly to the stator (white) wire and check for charging. You should be able to find the remains of the regulator wire (yellow) somewhere in that wiring abortion there.

Yep... sure did. The quadrant install thread isn't missed all that much but I may need to try and repost the alternator thread. Been an AWFUL lot of alt questions lately.

Yeah, I know. Mine is in multiple pieces. That sucks about the Quadrant write-up - I was referring people to it (which is one reason people kept 'bringing it back', much to your delight I am sure).

Yeah... probably my best thread. I typed that out while my hands were still dirty even, so that I could put all of the details into it. Other folks came along and added various things (problems) that they had with the same install. All in all, it was a VERY complete "how-to" for removing the old and correctly installing the new. I wished I had printed it out.
