Okay,
Yesterday I changed my factory airfilter to an Open Filter w/ Heatsheild, same MAF. I already have the C&L TrueFlow Tube - be installed about 4 mo. Today after driving about 20mi the Light come on - any thoughts?

Could it be MAF?

Thanks B

More than likely there is filter oil on the MAF. It's a common occurance.

also be very careful when cleaning the MAF wires, they are fragile. There are a couple of how-to threads on here somewhere, try doing a search to locate them. You may be able to find one.

Sounds like the filter was over oiled, or improperly oiled to me also. You have to let the filter sit quite a while after oiling so it spreads out evenly across the filter element.

You can also pull trouble codes from your speedo, if you hold in the little reset button for your trip odometer as you start the car, it goes into a test mode.

Cycle through the test mode by pushing the reset button. There should be a dtc # and that is your trouble code.

Look it up on the web and it should tell you.

But I would guess oil on the MAF, some people just just Alcohol and a q-tip for cleaning.

the trouble codes on the dash are not true OBD2 codes. you need a scan tool to pull the exact codes.

the codes you see when you hold the button in on the dash is not pcm codes. those are codes for the HEC ( hybrid electronic cluster module) codes from the other modules including the pcm will not be displayed by this method.

Thanks for the help.

Hopefully I have it worked out...

I talked w/ C&L Performance, since I have the Trueflow Pipe & Filter/Heat Sheild, he said (1) Clean real good w/ a Q-Tip (very Carefully) Then (2) when I reinstall it make sure it is in the 1-2 O'Clock position if I am in front of the car (1-2 O'Clock - Engine side).

I have about 25 mi since I did that & not proplems yet...

If it comes back on just drive to autozone and they will read scan your car for free. But make sure you look at the scanner and see if they tell you the code number correctly cause the guys at autozone dont know too much.
