"CHECK OIL" LIGHT

i have a 89 gt hatchback, like every 3 weeks the check oil comes up, and i check the dipstick and i gota add some oil to the engine. my driveway is perfectly clean, so its not leaking to the ground. is there a leak u may know that is common with this stangs? please help me
P.S. my engine is stock

Could be leaking as you are driving, or when the engine is fully up to temperature. Hop under the car and see if you can spot any oil. Check around the oil pan, maybe the gasket is on it's way out.

its probably just the engine burning some. does it smoke at all?

Do you know about how many miles are on the car? It could be burning oil rather than leaking it, when the car is warmed up and you rev it do you see blue smoke come out of the exhaust?

3 major leak spots.


Rear Main Seal

Oil pan gaskets

Oil sensor gaskets.


If those are dry, you are prob buring oil then...either rings, or valve seals

X2 - Also probably burning oil. If it is, you might want to consider using a thicker oil ? It wont "stop" the consumption, but might slow it down?

I had the same problem and it turned out to be the oil pan gasket.
