The company I work for makes racing differentials. Anyways, we made one that is streetable without preload and put it in this mustang. It's pretty cool because it's a torque sensing differential so it sends power to the wheel with traction in turns. It locks on takeoff like a posi, but remains unlocked the rest of the time so it's much better than a locker or posi. It doesn't use any springs or clutches either, just a torque sensing gear driven differential that handles 700hp/tq and is a blast to drive with.

So we've been thrashing this mustang around testing it out, and I fell in love with it.

It's a 65 K code fastback. It's got all modern suspension, a modern 5 speed transmission, every part is new. The seats were made by recaro. It's in the 400 horsepower range, but it's VERY light and nimble, and it drives like a brand new car. It isn't too loud, but sounds beautiful. It races at Sears Point and Thunder hill on the road courses and hangs with the best of them in the corners. I wish I could own this car!

What do you guys think?

P.S. I'm going to build one for myself, but a 67-68 fastback.
I had a 2000 GT but I sold it and bought the black supra thats in the first pic. I miss being a mustang guy

Looks really good. That rearend sounds like a limited slip.

Personally, I would have kept the kcode original because of the rarity of them and done all of that to a different fastback. However, its still pretty SCHWEET

is your supra a TT?

Nice looking car, but I kinda prefer to see the rare K-codes left alone. Oh ya, and could you please add more, larger photos next time?

a) It's not a limited slip at all, it uses no springs or clutches... nothing slips, it lauches much harder than a limited slip. The difference is night and day if you have driven both. This is a torsion differential. We've been making them for sprint cars and circle track cars for years.

b) The guy who owns it has a number of modified mustangs. He has a 1968 all steel fastback widebody racer. This car could be brought back to stock if he ever wanted to.

c) Yes, my supra is a tt. I haven't had it very long so it's almost stock. I've only spent about $500 or so in performance parts. But it does okay, 12.2 in the 1/4 mile.

where can I buy a glove box that is autographed by Carroll Shelby? Anyone? cost?

I bet you can send your glove box door to Carroll Shelby and he will sign it. Go to the shelby site and email them. You would be better off calling though.

He will probably charge $500 for it! HAHA

sounds like what a buddy of mine runs in a dirt track car - the product sounds like what you described and it's called black gold and it's not legal in the class he runs, street stock.

I'm pretty sure they're called Torsen differentials. It uses a worm gear to multiply the torque of the wheel without traction by a number set by the gears inside it and sends that amount of torque to the wheel with more traction. That means that if one wheel is free-wheeling, you don't get much traction at the other wheel, BUT you can get pre-loaded ones, with springs in them that maintain a little preload, so there is always some torque, even with a wheel off the ground. Applying the brakes also helps when one wheel is off the ground.

I believe Currie sells them as Gold-Trac and True-Trac. One is the racing version. They've been around for a while.

Oh and about the car, I love it, but I'm biased, my car is very similar, 5 spoke magnesiums, fat 60 series tyres, wooden wheel, silver paint.

I don't want to really get into the differential because we aren't paying for advertising. But we are the manufactures of the one mentioned gold-trac and the others are made by us and re-labeled by other companies.

Those differentials do have preload, but no springs or clutches what-so-ever.

We have just developed a differential that works the same, but without any preload. Our cirlce track and racing differentials that have preload need to be serviced out of the car every 8-12 races, they run hot and would be terrible for a street car. Not to mention they are very expensive.

We just made some changes to our design and took away the preload. Now it's at a much lower price point, and awesome for the street and don't have the same strict servicing issues. You should be seeing them in all of the mustang magazines shortly. PM me for more info because I don't want to "advertise" on here unlawfully.

Are you up in the north bay? What wheels are on that fastback? They look like the old ARE that I first saw on a Global West ad....... I am interested in the rear too.

i heard the turnaround time is outrageous.

soon, finding one w/out his signature will be worth more money because they'll be so rare.

I don't think anyone minds more information. It's not like you just busted in with spam. If this tuly is a new product we want to know about. At least I do, and am asking for more info.

What more would you like to know? We manufacture them so I'm sure I can answer any questions.

I emailed the StangNet about paid advertisement, and setting up a group buy. They don't allow group buys, so we are working out advertisements in different mustang magazines. You guys should be seeing it soon.

However... it's a little pricey

Actually, we are still in the interest guaging stages. Are target market is mostly street rod guys, but I'm a big mustang fan, and I think these are awesome for mustangs after driving the K code before and after the differential.

I put one on Ebay just for the hell of it, I wanted to see what would happen. Nobody has even bid on it yet. It's $50 below retail right now. I think they will move quickly once the name gets out there.
