I kinda have mixed feelings, BUT 1000HP TT MY GOD MAN.






Im just happy they didnt put a 4 banger honda engine in it..

there are plenty of decent enough looking GM cars to put an all-out LS engine into...and plenty of interesting non-stock Ford engines they could have used (427 SOHC in an 06, how cool would that have been)...

instead they end up with something that, while technically interesting, is neither fish nor fowl...

I love it you get the amazing performance of the LS7 motor plus the looks of the Mustang

back in the early 80's I put a 351C in a 67 Firebird ...

I had it in a '66 fastback but nobody would race me anymore, they said the Mustang "was too light"...it couldn't have had anything to do with the Cleveland being a kick butt engine...

it used to be a GM swap was easier because of the shape of the oil pan and the length of the block, but that hasn't been the case for a couple decades...


(and that LS swap would have been an order of magnatude better in something like a Saturn Sky rather than a Mustang)

The Ford mod motors are more expensive to make as fast as the GM LS engines, not to mention the HUGE hole we start out with.

Ford isnt going to be making a 500hp N/A 5.4 4V anytime soon.

Ford has some pretty good old stuff...but newer tech seems to be lost on them. Short of NASCAR you don't see the kind of power GM or Dodge puts out.

The lack of pushrods and cubes will do that. Although stuff for the LS engines isn't cheap.

But seriously, it would be cheaper and easier to drop a built 302 or 351 based engine in there than to go through all of that trouble. Stuff for the windsors is cheaper than the LS1's.

anyways, at the risk of being hypocritical, if you look at specs and comparisons between the two, the ls1 is definately a better souce of hp gains. although more expensive, sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

but its still up in the air.

Bull****... you can take any ford motor and make 1000hp... for cheaper than buying a damn LS7 and adding turbos to it... i bet that car breaks down 10x becuase of the chevy stuff in there

There are quite a few guys with fox body mustangs with 434+ BBC motors.

However you can make 1000 rwhp with a single turbo LS2
