Stangnet members, this is my first post on this cool forum and need some insight on two ford orange colors. The two I am interested in are Poppy red and Calypso Corral, for a 1967 Mustang Fastback.

Which is the darker of the two and which do members on here prefer. I have seen a poppy red 65 in person, and liked the color but have not seen a calypso corral 69 in front of me to help me decide. Your input is greatly appreciated.

I am fairly sure the Poppy Red is darker.

I myself am in love with Calypso Corral. By far my favorite 69 Color! My vote goes to that.

I'd look into '66 Signal Flare Red also.

actually, i'm fairly certain Poppy Red and Calypso Coral are the same color. ford had a way of just re-naming standard colors from year to year back then. for instance Acapulco Blue in 69 is the same color as Medium Blue Metallic in 70.

also the grabber colors were really Ford fleet vehicle colors that were applied to their musclecars and renamed. Grabber Yellow is actually school bus yellow, Grabber Blue was a trash track/dump truck color, Grabber Green is forest ranger/border patrol green, etc. kind of sneaky how they did some things back then . oh one more, Gaurdsman Blue for 65-67 is the same as Presidential Blue for 68-69.

Not sure about that. I had done several shows and remember seeing Poppy Red, and if memory serves me right, the Poppy was a bit more Red than my Calypso which was original factory paint.

You are right they have the same PPG code in 1965 and 1970.

Then I stand corrected. It probably was the fact they were repaints and mine was original.
