Clean out the TB ?

Back then when im doing PI intake swap, I did spray load **** of card cleaner on TB cause I saw it was dark black stuff ( I driving import and if you clean out the TB it will help car idle and run alot better ). I dint knew those black coat is there for a reason, I clean it out completely . My car ran and idle fine now, but its bad for the engine ? do i need new TB ? thanks

The black stuff is there for a reason?

Soooo what reason might that be anyways?

I think what he might be talking about is there is a sticker on the tb that says do not spray cleaner on the inside of it since there is a special coating or something like that. My 96 GT has a sticker that says something like that.

If your question is: I cleaned all the carbon-gunk out of my TB with carb cleaner, is it OK? Then the answer is yes, you are fine. FWIW, you can use 3M throttle body cleaner ... it works great and is "safe" to use on our TB's. Though I've never had any issues with regular carb cleaner anyway ...

so what that black coat in side out tb are for ? if I remember I clean the hell out of it and even use brush to brush all that gunk out.

Yes you aren't supposed to clean the TB's with carb cleaner due to the coating. Instead you should wipe it out or wash it off the engine

The TB was off the engine when Im cleaning it.

i sanded and polished mine.. it worked fine afterwards

youll be fine man just make sure now that you clean it every other oil change (6,000 to every 7,000 miles). and you want to use air intake and throttle cleaner.

Im doing seaform before every oils change now ( over price but for me its worth it ).
