Hey guys,

I've had this 1999 gt for about a month now. I replaced a cracked valve cover on the passenger side when I first purchased the vehicle. After chasing down other non engine issues, I have noticed my engine now has a very noticeable tap or click coming from the valve cover area. Below is a link to a youtube video I recorded of the tapping. It sounds much louder on the video than it does when I stood outside of the vehicle.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

Yes I'm aware of the squeaking pulley.

Edit-. I'm not sure why this posted in general when I was in 4.6 tech...

How many miles? More than 150k?

When the valve covers were off did you inspect the timing chain tension shoes for wear?

Its at 165k miles. I only had the passenger side off and did not look at the timing chain shoes.

I did take a picture when I cleaned up the gasket area though. Not sure if you can tell anything from that.

Annnnd I figured out the problem. Using a redneck stethoscope (prybar), it was my pcv valve.
