Clunk sound from rear?

So does it sound more like a driveline clunk or a suspension clunk? At slow speeds like 5-10mph, when its cold, I hear a clunk from the rear mostly when I drive over the lane separater's (raised relfectors). I only hear it at night/or when it's cold outside. It's always unable to duplicate when I bring it in for service.

I assume you have to order one for each side in the rear? $200 is kinda steep to get rid of a noise the car shouldn't be making stock

Is it easy to install with basic tools or should a newb like myself pay to have it done?

This is the bracket that holds the UPPER control arm, not the two lower ones. Our cars have only one upper arm. One end of the arm attaches to the top of the differential, the other to a bracket which in turn bolts to the body. This bracket is what is pictured in the link and it did help my rear end clunk, but as always with this kind of stuff your mileage may vary.

Installation is not terribly difficult provided you have the tools. I put the rear of my car up on jack stands. You'll also need to be able to support the fuel tank as you need to lower it a couple inches to get the bracket out. A couple of small floor jacks work well for this. I'd say total time to remove the old bracket and install the new one is about 2 hours. That's if you're like me and ok with this stuff but not a professional by any means.
