Was it a FORD cable, or an aftermarket OEM-fit cable? Non-adjustible is the way to go, but ONLY with an actual Ford cable - the aftermarket ones (such as by Pioneer) are visibly made less sturdy. I've already snapped one of those in my notch and wound up putting the old factory cable with like 200k+ miles on it back in ... which, surprisingly, even feels smoother, and has never given me a problem.

that's bad news for me. on the flip side, if i make it last a year as well, it'll be the longest a cable has ever lasted for me!
