do you have a aftermarket quad and cable? was it hard to push before it broke?

if you have a aftermarket quadrant you might have had it misaligned, this can cause the cable to fray then snap.

If it was really hard to push the pedal you might have a problem with the clutch fork and pivot ball. when the pivot ball and fork wear into each other you will ahve really hard pedal effort and you can snap a cable from this.

Is the cable snapped did you look? If so just get a new cable and adjust properly

the worst thing that it could be is that the pressure plate broke, but it still sounds like a
cable/quadrant problem.
