Clutch replace..Remove bellhousing?

I heard somewhere that you dont have to remove the bellhousing on the transmission when you replace the clutch on our cars. Is this true?

You do not need to remove the bellhousing from the transmission but you must remove the bellhousing from the engine.

Is this what you meant?

You probably dont have to seperate the bellhousing from the trans, but it's soooo much easier to get to the top bellhousing bolts if you do.

Yeah thats what i meant Chris..Someone told me you cold just remove the bellhousing from the tranny, leaving it connected to the engine and do it like that

I agree with Low-5.0 I couldn't imagine how much harder the job would have been if the 2 were bolted together when I swapped the T5 for the 3550.

How can u remove the bellhousing...but still have it connected to the engine? The bellhousing is between the engine and tranny

I think he meant remove the tranny from the bellhousing...

The bellhousing needs to be removed to change the clutch, but you can and should remove the tranny from the bellhousing before removing the bellhousing from the engine.

I have always removed the bellhousing/trans together...though it would be easier (so to speak) by seperating them...

I just pull it down in one piece...
