Clutch Replacement

Well like so many of us I am finally going through the infamous "Throwout Bearing" problem and instead of replacing just the bearing I'm replacing the whole clutch kit. Now, after hearing the labor quotes for my area I'm thinking that I can do it myself...I have access to a garage and the necessary tools I just don't have the experience. So here comes the question...Is there anything specific that I need to do? Could you guys give any helpful advice to help me with this painful process? Thanks for your time!

Hey man it is pretty simple. The only things you will need other than the clutch is molly, I would replace the rear seal on the tranny just in case. You will need to remove the driveshaft mid pipe and tranny. Possibly the shifter I just took my handle off of the tri-ax. KNow the torque specs and have some loc-tite and a friend to help with the install and removal of the tranny. It shouldn't take you more than a day. The hardest part is that there is a bolt you cannot see on the starter that you will need a lot of little extentions to get from the front of the motor. Otherwise it is simple just takes time

Thanks for the answer clay, do I HAVE to resurface my flywheel?...or can I simply turn it?

Dark I absolutely wouldn't go the shortcut route & turn it as you may have problems in the future w/ the new clutch & for the price of the clutch make sure you do it right. Get you flywheel resurfaced.

Make sure you have (2) 12" and (1) 6" extentions and (2) univeral joints. You will need them to get to the upper transmission bolts.

I just wanted to thank you all again for your advice. We finished everything up friday night around 6'ish, and after 11 hours of work my Stang is running again! =) So thank you all for your advice!
