Clutches?

Which is my best choice for replacing a worn clutch? RAM vs. King Cobra, or any other brand for around $200.00.

A King Cobra clutch would be a excellent clutch in my opinion for your mods.

I had King Cobra and loved it...it had great pedal feel and slipped nicely for daily driving.

www.buyfordracing.com has the cheapest prices on the King Cobra that I have seen.

I have a buddy with a Ram clutch setup on his high 12 second car but it wasn't a very streetable car in my opinion...not because the clutch. I never pushed in or sat or drove it so I wouldn't know how it acted. I have heard good things and bad things about them.

i had a centerforce df and hated it...got a spec stage 1 and love it!

Yeah the DF and Spec Stage 1 are totally different sets of clutches. The DF can hold much more power and is probably a bit less street friendly

I've very happy with my Centerforce Stage II right now...

i just ordered a king cobra, i should be getting it thursday, i can wait to put it in, i had a bad throw out bearing so i decided to just get a whole new clutch!

If i want a clutch that is a good clutch but Is'nt so hard to push in.. what should i get?

My Centerforce Stage II is softer than my King Cobra I had...but the King Cobra didn't have clutch chatter at anytime like the CF can do every now and then at a low slipping rpm. The CFII holds more power though...but the King Cobra has a pretty light feel as well...a bit stiffer than stock.

So essentially what your saying is the centerforce stage II can be noisy but holds more power and is softer than the kc huh. i've been wondering myself about what clutch to get for a streetable 347. something that'll take a beating but not wear my leg out on the street.

No, it isn't noisy...clutch chatter is when you let the clutch out slowly at a low rpm (like from a street start) and the car shimmy's or shakes a bit because the clutch disc is trying to grab the flywheel and is skipping over it. It all comes down to the type of clutch disc material you have. I actually don't notice the clutch chatter anymore but that probably just has to do with the way I take off.

I would get a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch for that car. I have drove that clutch as well. It will hold your power for sure. It is a soft pedal. The King Cobra won't hold the power that your 347 will put out.

Go with the clutch I have then. Its the softest clutch i've had in my car and will handle ton's more power and rpm than the other clutches. I've had a fms hd, a king cobra and now I run a mcleod dual friction disk with a promotion modified fms hd pressure plate. All my clutches have been great but this ones the best due to the power and rpm it will hold. Its a tad softer than a stock king cobra clutch. My girlfriend can push it down with no problems You can get it for $289 from www.nitrostangracing.com It doesn't chatter or hit hard like other clutches can. Heres a pic of the clutch-

Agreed. If you want a more heavy duty clutch and don't want to give up that decent pedal feel then check out the McLeods. They're a bit $$ but worth it. If you are looking for something in the $200 range then I agree the KC is the way to go.

For a mild car my favorite is actually the FMS heavy duty. It has a great feel to it. I have a Center Force myself and I hate it. It feels heavy. I'm going to get spec or McLeod next time around. I have heard good things about the Kevlar lined McLeod units from a lot of folks.
