Cobra Stalling, Sputtering Problem..help!!!!!

Hello All, I Have A 98 Cobra With 40,000 On It...i Went To The Store Yesterday, The Car Was Running Perfect, I Got In It To Go Home And It Suddenly Started Spitting And Sputtering, It Starts Up Fine, It Idels Fine, And Mostly Revs Up Fine , But As Soon As You Get Above 2000 Rpms Or So And The Motor Is Under A Load It Starts Cutting Out Like It Is Running Out Of Fuel...it Is Totally Undriveable And Stalls If You Put It To The Floor....the Motor Is Stock With The Exception Of Bbk Long Tube Headers, Bbk H-pipe, Borla Mufflers.....i Changed Out The Fuel Filter Today And It Did Not Help, Also Went To The Gas Station And Put More Gas In.....(i Was Only On A 1/4 , But Just In Case)....any Ideas??? Fuel Pump?? Electrical???.................................Update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 14 Feb ...I found the problem, I went to replace the fuel pump and found the plastic piece that screws on to of the fuel pump had worked its way loose and was not allowing the pump to work right, I tightened it up and car runs perfect.....................................................Thanks for all the help and info...

Another vote for checking the fuel pump AND the fuel filter.

Also, since your thread is not a really long book title you can relax the use of the 'shift' key when typing your posts...
 
Yepper on the pump... My last Mustang did the exact same thing.. I bet you ran out of gas a few times beforehand didn't you? Go ahead tell the truth.. I know I did.. Then it became a gradual sputtering when I'd step on the gas and then bam it just died... luckily pumps don't cost that much to put in...

Clean out the IAC valve. I'd lay money that's your issue. Mine did the exact same thing and I swore it was a fuel delivery problem. Drove me insane until a buddy suggested to give the IAC a clean out. Whaddya know..? Ran like a dream afterward.
