i want to replace it mine is faded - the sticker that says handbuilt by ----- its on the pass side valve cover, anyone know where i can get a replacement ?? thx
I think Late model restorations sells alot of factory stickers. www.50resto.com. I buy all my motorcraft and factory parts there instead of the dealer. I have two cobra's, plated one set of 95 Cobra valve covers (chrome) and my 93 Cobra is peeling and faded too. Unbelievably I have very few miles on my 93 and the sticker still gets yukky. I think it is heat related.
If you have a hand written tag (96-early 97 Cobras) they will send you a metal one with the original builders names stamped on it I believe...
As for the cheaters comment, they know who built your engine by the VIN number and they won't send a plaque without proof of ownership(faxed registration, etc)
LOL!! i was just surfing the net all over for this.... I distoryed mine the other day when I washed my engine. I sprayed super clean on my engine and It completely ruined the decal!
I have read many posts and forums about SVT owners inquiring about the assembly tag; lost, destroyed, old, faded... I've attached a picture of the tag that mtmunlimited.com did for my Cobra. I would highly recommend Mike and MtM Unlimited LLC - top notch customer service and quality of work. I have been looking to powder coat my valve covers for a very long time but the sticker with the signatures in ink was my brick wall. I called SVT and spoke a few guys there that said it was a lost cause - I couldn't get the tag replaced, stamped or otherwise. I would have to look for alternative sources. I had stumbled on MTM Unlimited thru an Ebay purchase I made. He told me that they were a custom job shop.... so I asked about replicating my tag. I carefully removed the tag with a razor blade. It came off easier than I thought and in one piece. I scanned the tag to MTM Unlimited LLC and they took it from there. I would highly suggest the bead blasted metal finish. They sent me the 3 finished tags in stainless steel, bead blasted and brushed aluminum. The stainless and brushed tags had too much going on with the background that it was hard to read the tag. Stainless was too shiny and brushed was brushed. The bead blasted finish was perfect. It was clean and the writing "popped" out. Very nice work and I am a perfectionist. I had them create a few other badges and emblems for my car.
yeah.. I just got my car put together again over the Memorial weekend. I had the valve covers and top intake cover powder coated along with other misc. items, the JLT cold air intake airbrushed, installed braided fuel lines and fittings, Accufab throttle body and put on the new tags and badges - build tag on coolant expansion tank, valve cover assembly tag and top intake cover SVT badge. This was after I tore it apart back in September - November for a complete resto-mod of the engine and interior. I had it in the shop from May thru August last year for complete rear end work, gears, suspension, exhaust (again) etc... I did all the engine bay work - it needs to be perfect or it will drive me batty...... it's a girl thing.
