I have a 89 LX which has a very rich exhaust smell. I installed a after market gauge cluster so the maintenance light is disconnected. I have read some articles about clearing codes and using a light to read codes from a connector by the fire wall however I’m not sure which two pins to jump for this process

So apparently someone added a cat delete x pipe with no O2 sensor holes. Connection plugs are zip tied up. So install new holes or is there a 02 bypass method?

Here's a low cost obd1 code reader specifically for Ford vehicles. It plugs directly into the diagnostic port.

Amazon product ASIN B000EW0KHWView: https://www.amazon.com/INNOVA-3145-Ford-Digital-Reader/dp/B000EW0KHW/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1N97UFBOBVVWW&keywords=ford+odb1+code+reader&qid=1645579437&sprefix=ford+odb1+code+reader%2Caps%2C152&sr=8-5

Fortunately my retired neighbor is a welder so l was researching the options and will buy the bungs and can have him weld them in. I’m going to jack up the car and make double sure those aren’t there just plugged.

I need to get my eyes checked. They are there I just didnt go up far enough the tube to the header. I suspect they are shot though so off to get new ones. I have had issues with these things on other cars so I'm starting fresh.

Code reader with key on had 11, 10 car running just produced a "cylinder 8" so looking at my plug wires, #6 boot was on the plug end but not all the way on which smoothed out my idle. Now i dont have the cam I thought I had. Theoretically how long should I drive the beast in order to get any readings after completely dumping the stored codes? I dumped all of the old codes due to the fact I purchased the car over a year ago and it wasn't running when I got it (dead TPI) so time to start fresh.

I get that a lot. I haven’t riden for about 8 years. I have about 90 days to retire from my second job so I may start again

“cylinder 8” is just an identifier that it’s an 8 cul vehicle. Ignore it . If you run the cylinder balance test, an issue with cylinder 8 would be a code “80”.

So key on no start initially gave a code 13 however after turning on again, no code other than 11/10. Running I got 12, 33, 41, 91. I'm waiting on 41/91 replacements and 12 I can adjust however 33 is new.

I didnt realize that I had to adjust the new BBK throttle body. It was in a box in the trunk with no instructions so I slapped it on and the car ran. Little did I know until now that it had to be adjusted with the AIC disconnected. New O2 sensors, idle adjustment, TPS check, timing check, and a 50 mile drive shortly
