89 Gt keeps blowing coils. 2 today. I am completely clueless. I had a 87' before that i never had problems. This car is bone stock. Old guy had it. Will run with a new one for 10 or so mins on average and shut off and wont start. Put a new one in and it starts fine. Please help!

Same thing happened to me. It took me a while to figure out it was the ignition module. A good thing to do when you get a new 5.0 is to get a new module, coil, and pickup coil. This should solve your problem. However, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE PARTS FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP! An aftermarket ignition module will start giving you the same problems again. I bought one from autozone and it started acting up a few months later. Now i got all new parts from ford, and it runs like a dream. Hope this helps.

today....

Car is fine today. Could a bad wire from the coil to the dirstributor be the problem? Let it idle for a hour and it didnt overheat the coil or anything and drove it around... Justa mystery
