I used to have one before the turbo... thought it was cool. I had the tubing run inside the car, and when I raced, I would pucker up and blow into the filter, and I could feel the boost...

Hey if a CAI is not giving much gains, like a lot of people are saying, then what else is left but looks? Besides it's his car and he says he wants it for the looks.

I have homemade CAI that turns 90* towards the fendre and then turns 90* downwards with a K&N filter at the end. It made a noticeable performance diff. on my car but it does not look all that great. No shiny chrome, just two 4 inch white pvc pipes. People love it when I tell them I made it out of toilet pipes. On a stock car you should be able to notice the diff. too.

On its own I wouldnt do it. But buy yourself a Mac off road H for $120 and get the Mac CAI for like $180 and you'll feel and hear both. Esentially those were the only 2 real mods I had on my 96GT and that prolly netted me somewhere around 25-30 crank HP for both of them. The H gives you low end grunt and the CAI gives you high end pull and that whistling sound resembles a blow off valve. It's kinda cool.

I liked my FIPK-2 when I had it. It netted some nice gains, but when I got my 80mm MAF and 70mm TB I decided to turn to the trueflow inlet by C&L. I like it a lot and it looks REALLY good under the hood. that combo netted me some nice gains.

I recently bought UPR Products new cold air intake for my GT FOR $140 and the O/R X-Pipe for $150. In conjunction your car will rev quicker and make you think you have a turbo in your muffler when you give it some gas. I think it was well worth it. My intake is made of aluminum and comes with silicone hoses.

I have 2 question.s I don't know how many of you all shop ebay but there are a **** of Cai kits on there for like $60 they are the cromed aluminum and they look just like the steeda kits that cost more than twice that. Unless I am missing something why would i want to spend alot more just for it to say Steeda. Has anyone seen or bought one of these. I am thinking about one because it cost as much as buying a Damn replacement K&N filter.

My second question is if i decided to just get the K&N replacement filter. I noticed a rubber hose that sticks out of the stock airbox and into the fender is this the Air silencer that everyone talks about. That thing looks restricive on its own. I will definettly be removing it if I decide to stay with a K&N and the stock box

they make more noise to people think it does something. I read all these post about letting in more air so you get more out. bla bla bla. good for 2hp maybe witch is proably withing the error factor of a dyno run. switching to synthetic oil will give you more power than a CAI. now if you superchagre then they can give ou some power.

the metal ones even get hot so eventually they cost you power. the fipk is a decent peice but for $200 why? I mean unless you are just out of mods.

hognutz I noticed that you changed your upper intake anf throttle body are you still useing the stock ait box and ducting. If that is working for you then maybe I will just go buy a k&N drop in filter. I just don't want to buy the filter then turn around and have to buy a cai in a fews months becuase i put a bigger throttle body on and a new upper intake

yup. it's not what one mod can do for you, but which combination work in conjunction best.
