could be an intake leak!! my exploder did this in the winter when it was cold! wouldn't run unless you held the gas down a bit and would run fine once it warmed up! took it to my cousins garage he did a test on it and turned out to be a leaking intake gasket! that's all i can come up with! I'm sure others will have more ideas! good luck! James

Do you remember what the test was called? Or what he did to test it? I've heard of using a can of either to spray and it would rev where the leak is? BTW it's just not when it's cold like winter cold, but when the engine is cold. Thanks. peace

Have you confirmed that your IAC is clean and functional?

Good luck.

That test is just called a smoke test, and dont use eather use just plain ole carb cleaner, and shoot all the vaccum lines one at a time until it idles down, but he is right check your IAC first

See the "Surging Idle Checklist for help with all your idle/stall problems. The first two posts contain all the updates to the fixes. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.
