I'm wanting to get a cold air intake on my 05 GT...does it help with cooling down the cabin of the car? I thought I read it some where, possibly on the Stangnet home page...one of the articles on CAI'S?? If so, which is the best to go with. Don't know if you guys notice how warm it gets inside or not. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know anything about it making the cabin cooler but I did do alot of reasearch on CAI's before I decided to purchase. I went with the JLT2 and a tune from Bama Chips and I could not be more pleased for the money.

Second that on the JLT CAI. I got great results with mine and it is one of the lesser expensive units. As far as cooling the cabin down...I am not sure where you heard that but it's not true. You might be thinking that PVC CAIs provide cooler air going into the engine than metal CAIs b/c PVC does not conduct as much heat. Either way though changing the CAI is not going to do anything for the cabin temperatures.

Thanks for the input, I'll go with that one when it's time. I have read enough on the forums about it and everyone seems very satisfied with that one.

CAI

I went with K&N Aircharger. I am very happy with results. No tune needed with this one.

Tunableinduction.com

I went with the cai from Tunableinduction.com along with the sct xcal 2 and have been grinning since. after some research this system seems comparable to the jlt system. I have not heard anything in these forums about the system I purchased and would like to know if it is really any different then the jlt system.

My 'Tunable Induction' system is ALL plastic to maintain a uniform system temperature once the engine compartment heats up, which will be a significant factor with the upcoming summer heat.

I also incorporate a FULL SURROUND polycarbonate heat shield. My shield seats against the hood blanket all the way around the system to seal off this corner of the engine compartment and block fan wash from the fan area. The shield also supports the TB pipe above the radiator hose.

And My TB pipe is way overbuilt with real carbon fiber to ensure the best insulated intake charge and long life.

I think you are talking about replacing the Stock CAT's with high Flow CAT's
it's i/4 the size so less heat buildup.

Sound good right ?

O.K. guys, I went to page 4 and read almost all of the input on cold air kits and I have to say the JLT is the one I will go with. With a tune also. Really appreciate the advice and if I have any more questions...I know where to get them answered. Thank you.

Just realize this..There is 1 huge advantage, the Tunable Induction has over the JLT. It has a complete surround heat sheild, that not only blocks out all that engine bay heat, but most important of all..The sheild also functions as a support for you're air filter, and prevents any part of you're intake tube, from resting on top of the radiator hose...Anyway, I'm not here to knock or put down anybody's product, but in my opinion..These are very important factors, when choosing a CAI, that's not only going to provide the best performance gain's, But also provide the best quality, as well...Anyhow it's just something you may want to consider...Good luck to you

I have the JLT/SCT combo and it is great results for the money. Make sure you buy this combo from a vendor that is established on this and other sites for you best results.

When you guys are "tuning" the car after installing a CAI, does this void the warranty?

Also, instead of going and spending $300 on a XCal, or something similar, can I just go to my mechanic or a speed shop and have them do a one-time tune for the CAI?

No, the hand-held tuner (whether it be the XCalibrator I or II, or Predator) locks itself to your vehicle (via the VIN) once a non-factory tune is installed to your car. The only way to unlock it (to either sell it or use it on another vehicle) is to return your car to the stock tune. No way around it It's a great tool to have for gears, different size rear tires, fan speeds, etc.
