I'm thinking about repairing the front bumper (removing road scratches) by using a fine grid sand paper and finishing off the job with a clear coat finish after the sanding.
Is this what is called color sanding? Just removing the clear coat and a fraction of the base coat?
if done correctly,you shouldnt get to the base,if you do,thats called "burning through". You can use a 1500-2000 grit paper and a spray bottle with water,it washes away the grit so it doesnt scratch.
Color sanding is a process of using really fine grit sand paper as stated above and wetsanding the finish. Then you buff it back out to a new car-like shine.
