Complete Fog Light Rewire?

I know that there is a foglight fix on Corral, and I've been cobbling together the parts to perform this fix, but I'm looking at the possibility of this not fixing my problem. Has anyone here done a complete rewire of the foglights on their GT? I'm just thinking that maybe there's an issue with the harness and wanted to cut through the chase and just fix the problem.

On my gt i went through three headlight switches, then i Wired the fog lights up with a relay running from the battery, still using the fog light switch on the dash to turn them on. Its just like wiring up some off-road lights on a 4x4. good luck

The advantage of making your own foglight wiring harness is that you can run 100 watt foglight bulbs. The stock wiring harness will not use 100 watt bulbs without overloading and causing a fire.

Unless you are good at electrical wiring, have the skills and tools (crimp tool, soldering gun, heat gun for the heat shrink tubing, etc.) I recommend that you stick with the Corral method.

Jrichker's outline would work quite well. It's a very simple install (if you've ever added fogs to a car that didnt have any, it's the same thing).

The quick and dirty way for you to see if your hanress is ok is to remove the fog light switch. Use a fused jumper from the battery to your output terminal on the fog light switch and see if the fogs come on. If they do, your harness should be fine and the standard fog light rewire (from the Corral) would suffice.

We have no idea what the issue with your fogs is (no info was given about the issue or any diagnostics performed).

Fogs blow the fuse immediately, and I even put a brand new switch in. I'm figuring it's something with the harness, that's why I asked about bypassing the harness and rewiring the whole thing. Since rebuilding the car with the help of a mechanic, I've gotten more daring with a lot of this stuff and suddenly realize it's not rocket science. But I also figure if I'm going to do this kind o work myself, I want to do it correctly the first time.

same thing happend to me just follow that diagram that I got from JRich its really simple im about to do it myself tomorrow since its no longer raining. but if you have some questions on ir or something post them here and JR, Hissing or myself will help you although i now understand alittle more electricitysince in the hvac field.

Blacksun, you can use a short finder if you want. You can disconnect the fog lights from their electrical connectors and see if the fuse stops blowing. IF so, it's an issue at the lights.

Otherwise, if you're not real big into wiring, you honestly might find that it's easier to run a new feed wire from the output of the foglight switch to the fogs themselves. Doing this takes 10 mins or so. The OEM wiring goes down the driver side fender, under the battery and to the rad support, where it splits off (one wire to each fog light).

I'm going to tackle this in two or three weeks, the car is back at the body shop and I'll have plenty of time to work on it once it's back.
