the aftermarket contour fans don't turn as fast as the oem ones do, at least not in my experience
That’s why when I saw a NOS oem set pop up about 4-5 years ago I bought it . I will not let it go . I haven’t see the another set sinceNo, but they still flow quite well. I'm running an aftermarket Contour fan and it's having no problem keeping my car cool while running it at around 75% max speed.
I previously ran an SN95 OEM fan but the biggest difference is the contour fan with the LMR mounting brackets covers 100% of the radiator surface area. It's just making more efficient use of the airflow even if the CFM is slightly less.
If i ever find a good deal on an OEM contour fan i'll get it and swap the motors over to my aftermarket fan shroud (i like the nice new plastic) but it's looking like that's not something I'm really going to need. I'll get more of an idea later this summer when we finally get into the 90's and I'm running A/C
One more testing video I have shared on corral, figured I would share it here in this thread. Its flow testing Focus fan motors and blades swapped/bolted into a Contour housing. Three bolts for each fan and the plugs are the same.
Great info,thank you. Question I have for you is can you take the blades and motors off that focus and put them in the contour shroud?
This way you have better blades and they shouldn't rub,or need grinding to fit.
Maybe just swap the one focus fan and motor with the most blades????
