I had found on Ford's site, years ago, a cleaner and sealer for the convertible tops. I have a 99GT vert that needs some TLC where the top is concerned. It's not ripped or anything so I would hate to replace it and would much prefer to clean it and reseal it. Anyone know of such a product? I can't seem to find the stuff on Ford's site again. Thanks!

2000 v6 vert

i have a vert w/ a white top and it's so time consumig to keep the darn thing cleaned....i took it to a local paint shop and they bleached it for like 50 dollars.....what i've learned that works best on my white top is the bleach for whitewall tires.....i spray it all over the top.....scrub in the hard places and use the high pressure washer hoses from the local car wash and it does a pretty good job....my dad has also used tilex on it and it seemed to do fine....and i'm glad to report to you no damage has been done to it or the paint....but you have to be careful

Thanks for the info, but my top is black; the idea of bleach scares me. The tops aren't all that expensive; about $180 from California Mustang. They're just a pain in the ars to get on... believe me; I've done it. If anyone has any ideas on a black top, please share... I'd be much indebted to ya.

ok, my friend said he used some tire shine on his black top, and said it looked real good, but if it rains it gets all over the windows and is a bitch to get off. just giving you another idea.

you can use pretty much any vynyl cleaner to get it looking good...but some of the stuff won't come off even then.

My little trick is to use a leather dye, just make sure that it matches your top. You just sponge it on over the really bad areas and it is a lot cheaper and easier than having to replace the top every few years.

Make sure you give it plenty of time to set before you expose it to any weather or you're likely to end up with dye all over your car

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I used the RaggTopp idea and sure enough, it held true to it's name; it is definately the stuff for Rag Tops. My vert looks awesome again!
