My top is starting to tear has anyone had luck fixing this problem before it turns into a big hole? I have a 3 inch rip that is not completly torn apart yet , How can I fix this?
Thanks
you can claim crimal mischief with your insurance company and see if it's covered. never heard of anyone just trying to fix a hole w/out replacing the top.
You can fix holes if top is vinyl if cloth then no... You jus get vinyl and a heat gun... I read a book on it when i was in school suspension one day I went to a vo-tech school for autobody... if it is real bad... NEW TOP!!!
years back we use to sew the rip with an awl hand kit like they use on sailboat repairs....its worth a try after the sewing you can put some epoxy on the inside to seal it from the rain........with a 3" rip if done right you could hide it pretty well..............................goodluck
About 7 months after I bought it, my '00 GT 'Vert top started to tear by the back 1/4 panel window on the passenger side.
This was caused by the top not closing correctly and rubbing up against something when it dropped.
I did not hear any rubbing noises when it was going down, but according to the Ford Dealership, they had heard of the problem before, and replaced the top for free after fixing the rubbing top issue. (Warranty coverage)
