got an 89 convertible- the rear side windows are super loose so they dont close properly. Can they be tightened- they go up and down fine just all over the place

im not sure where but i think there is an adj. for the play. mine do this a little and was thinking of looking for it while i had the interior out.

i cant see where

all i can see is 1 bilt it pivots on with a c-washer
and it pivots left to right
i cant see how to tighten it

sounds to me like you need new guide bushings.how are the dew wipes? if they're worn out the window will be loose. the above mentioned items are the only things that guide the rear windows. not like the door windows which have a guide rail. the dew wipes must have good pressure on the windows. inside and out. and beings your car is 20 yrs old, i'll bet you need new wipes and bushings.

a lot of times the guide that is on the rear of the window that is part of the top will come loose as well. this will aslo make a big difference in how the 1/4 window sits.
