Correct me or make fun of this person

First off I question the guy on that site, merely because he seems to half-*** list his mods. He spelled Edelbrock wrong, listed they just had a port and polish, and just seems to list stuff in random order. I am sure theres a ton of stuff he left out if thats really what the car is, but he lists his mass air meter, yet leaves out, the block, intake, cam, etc... Seems like someone with a huge mod list would mention the intake and cam hes running.

Second the stroker kit will make tons of power, but the stock block is the weak link at this point. Im sure he has an aftermarket one, but again, he didnt list it.

Raph130, a 347 stroker will NOT give you an instant 350 hp. You need the corresponding mods to go along with it. Strokers help when the motors built. I assume that what you mean, but again, wasnt stated. Noones doubting the power a combo like that can make, they doubt the 10.5:1 compression ratio, as supercharged cars dont take compression well. 10.5 is not a huge amount, but with 18 psi it is definately pushing it. I have seen guys run 10 psi on that much compression (not knowing it) and the car lasted for a few passes on 93 octane, before a head gasket went. If set up right and tuned its possible.

That much rwhp could run into the 9s and maybe 8s, with the right suspension and such. I know of a lot of 550-650 rwhp cars running in the mid 9s on small tires. Granted at that power levels to go even faster takes much more power. 50 hp at that level is only good for a tenth or two, whereas for us, that could be the difference between 14.6 and 13.9!

Yeah, but when people run nitrous with a blower for it's cooling effect, it's usually about a 40-shot, not 150.

It takes a lot to run 8s in a stang. If you can get the car down to 2900, how much does the driver weigh? The guy on myspace looks to weigh at least 200. So now we have 3100 lbs. If he can get it to hook and keep it on the track, it would take about 9.4 seconds to cross the finish line at approximately 144 mph with the 737 or so rwhp that the guy claims with the 75 shot.

I have friends with 900-1100 fly wheel hp rails that run the quarter in 7.8 seconds at 170 mph.

Unless this guy is running full racing fuel (which is totally possible) and a real block (again totally possibe) I think that he just wants to show off on the internet. The buzz words just dont add up to me.

It never fails, if you tell someone you have a 12 second car, they have an 11 second car that you have never seen. If you tell them you have an 11 second car, they have a 10 second car. But it has never been to the track or to a dyno and they know little to nothing about what is in the motor, tranny etc, etc. But they just know that it goes that fast or makes that much power. My long time buddy has been drag racing since in high school (he is now 37). I have been hanging around with this guy since I have been 17 (now 30). We are not pro's by any stretch of the word, but we have heard it all and seen a lot. Most of the stuff you hear will grow mushrooms under it if you leave it in a grassy field.

I have seen a guy at a bar checking out a blown big block pro street nova. The guy bends under the back of the car, looks at the pumpkin for about 10 seconds and says " I knew it that car has a 4.11 rear in it." I looked under the car and saw a black 9 inch housing. I asked the guy what qualified a 4.11 rear, but he walked off because I called his BS.

Dart makes the iron eagle blocks that if you break one from pure power, you are the man.
FMS also used to make the A4 block which was a very strong 302 block.

The dart blocks are rights at 2000, but it makes for a very reliable block. The cheaper way to go is with an early 351 that is good for between 700-800 fwhp. You still have to do the swap stuff, but if that is your HP goal, it can be more cheaply had than a primo race block.

Ok, i dont know if any of you took the time to look at his pictures, but his pictures def show a cobra intake manifold, a non-intercooled or aftercooled vortech blower, he does have some sort of shifter, i cant tell whether its a glide or not, he still has egr and emmisions crap on it, I cant see any type of evac system on it. All in all im calling bull****, maybe its an old picture or something but probably not. And I built cars running 18lbs of boost on pump gas, but only with large intercoolers. I think if you tried to run 18 without some sort of cooling it would def detontate. And a 30 shot of nitrous to cool the intake would def help. 150 shot = exploding. This is all assuming pump gas.

It really depends on a vareity of factors. Most people will say between 4-600 hp, but ive seen people use them at 700. It depends on the rpm of the motor, type of power adder, and basically if you detonate your done for. For something you use everyday naturally aspirated i personally wouldnt go over 500hp and try to keep the rpms as low as possible.
 
I agree. There is no majic "525.234 hp" number where the block cracks. Sometimes a stock block drag motor will last a whole year, some times it blows on the second pass. As the great clint eastwood would say
" Do you feel lucky, punk?"

I have to agree, what is this magic head that has been around for years that will give you 500 hp, and will eat LS1s? I really would like to know...

As far as 400 hp easy, I hope we arent talking rwhp numbers (which most guys use to compare). You can take the best heads out there (off the shelf), best intake (off the shelf), and best off the shelf cam, and I doubt your near 400 rwhp especially on a stock bottem end.

You have given no provan answers on anything, and just keep spewing random numbers out there... Give a little proof of these 400 hp engines, and 500 hp with these magic heads and maybe Ill believe you...

As for the stock block, the rule of thumb is approximately 500 hp. This is going off what a few dyno operators (one was an NMRA racer with a Real Street car) have told me. With a safe tune you can get more out of them, but its all a gamble. I have seen 300 hp cars crack blocks, and 550 hp cars live for years!

It can be done to get the stockblock to hit 400hp n/a. There is one or two people running around 376hp at the rear wheels with a 306. If you did want a stock block to reach 400, the easiest way would be to run a 347 setup with all forged internals. You could probably make around 420hp with that setup with supporting mods, large heads, cam, high flowing intake.

The reason why not many people put stroker kits in the stock blocks is because that is one of the biggest weakest of the engine, when it should really be the strongest. Just look at the main caps and compare them to a dart block, you will see a LARGE difference.

I was talking stock SHORT blocks, which means stock crank, rods, pistons... A 306 yes can make great power and could make 400 rwhp, but not with out of the box parts...
 
i think this has gone to far....it might be possible (could go one way or another depending perhaps on what is not listed) but regardless you would have to see a better discription. With the one he has listed it looks like it wouldn't be right but whos to say?
