I have a couple "beginner" questions on spark plug wires

1. Can you buy just one?? (prob. not), The #2 (2nd closest to firewall, dr. side) keeps getting burnt on the header
2. What is the name of the coating you can spray on the plug wire to keep it from burning (if there is such a thing)
3. What is the cheapest place to get a set

Thanks in advance

Patrick, the plug wire manufacturer will determine if you can get just one wire (you might be able to get one from one manufacturer, but not another).

One can use some heat wrap on the wires.

One can put dielectrical grease inside the plug boots, but it is not for flame retardation purposes.

Autolite plug wires are about as cheap as you can get I bet. For the stang, FPRR wires for 40-ish are nice. I run Mallory wires which seem fine. I would use Taylor next time probably.

Good luck Patrick.

And dont spent too much if you might actually sell the car.

I just run a set of Autolite 96259 8mm wires and they seem to work fine on my stock engine. As for them getting burned on the headers they sell little plastic keepers in the help section of most part stores that will stop that by keeping them organized and out of the way.
