I'm a new member, but have been combing the forum for ages. Especially lately. I'm very familiar with jrickners "crank no start" checklist, but my mechanically challenged self is either missing what I should be seeing as the culprit or my car is possessed.
Here's the details that might be pertinent. 86 Mustang, 347 SC, mass air converted, t-rex ext. FP, in tank 255 FP, 8456 MSD pro billet distributor. Car ran fine for years like this, but a couple weeks ago started initially, stalled, cranked forever, started one last time and now nothing. When I crank the car, it cranks fine, gas gauge drops, volts on batt. gauge drops to 0, which I don't think is normal either. I don't remember if it did this prior.
I've already replaced the AFPR, coil, ignition switch, ignition module, tfi module, fuel; filter, ECM relay, the FP primes with key in "run". I got power from the yellow wires on the ignition switch, but none from any others. I've checked/cleaned all the grounds, have 40 psi at FP gauge that holds. Initially the FP went up to 40, then dropped like a stone regardless of if the car cranked or not. Hence replacing the AFPR. I've also cut the 20 gauge and 18 gauge fuse link to replace, and replaced the 14 gauge fuselink.
Sorry for the long post. I'm just about to put a match to this thing.
